Here are the answers to some of the questions we are asked most frequently. If you have a question that we haven’t answered below, send it now and a Chocolate Fairy will to get back to you as soon as possible! -
Why is Beyond Chocolate for women only? Most women are more comfortable talking about their relationship with food and their body with in a women-only environment. Often, they just don't feel they can talk about certain things with men around. However, men are increasingly aware of their weight and body image and Beyond Chocolate is in the process of creating a course specifically for men, which will be available in the future. Am I too young / too old to benefit from Beyond Chocolate? Beyond Chocolate works well for women of all ages and past participants have ranged from 20 to 70. Our experience tells us that a mixture of ages in a group can be an advantage. I would love to do Beyond Chocolate but I just can't afford it. Can you help?We firmly believe that the life-changing benefits of Beyond Chocolate are for everyone and it's our policy to make Beyond Chocolate accessible to as many women as possible. If cost is a problem or you have a low income there are a limited number of ‘30% off’ bursaries available for all our courses, Beyond Chocolate Online s and other events. These are offered on a first come first served basis and we won’t ask you questions nor will we need to evaluate your eligibility – if you ask for one, we trust that you need it. Talk to us and we will find a solution that works for you – we can, for example, arrange staggered payments if it helps to pay in instalments. Email us on

I’ve never been to anything like this before. If I come to an Experience, BiteSize sessions of one of your other events, what exactly will I be expected to do? One thing's for sure, you won’t be sitting in a chair being lectured at all day, nor will we ask you to stand up and ‘share’ with a room full of strangers. The course is a combination of input from us, practical exercises done in small groups or pairs, writing and asking questions. You can participate at whatever level feels right for you. Whatever you choose to do or not do, everybody gets something out of it. I am wary of working in groups. Will I have to talk about personal issues in front of others? No, definitely not. Beyond Chocolate is not about standing up and baring your soul to a room full of women! While some of the philosophy is American in origin, the methods are not and there is no need for you to share information with the group Beyond Chocolate is about exploring and transforming your own relationship with food and you are free to say as little or as much as you like. Whether you like to talk or are quieter, you’ll benefit from Beyond Chocolate regardless. I am diabetic and have allergies/intolerances to certain foods, Can Beyond Chocolate work for me?Beyond Chocolate is not a diet - there are no plans or menus and we don’t tell you which foods you can and can’t eat. The Beyond Chocolate philosophy is all about listening to our bodies so it can work whatever your dietary needs and preferences. If your body is sending you a clear signal that certain foods are harmful than you can learn to listen and respond appropriately, knowing that you are looking after yourself. We will help you to find a solution that works for you and that takes into account your health and safety. How long will it take me to lose weight with Beyond Chocolate? Unlike a diet, Beyond Chocolate is not a quick-fix, short-term solution. It is a new approach that will help you to find a sustainable relationship with food and your body that feels comfortable for you. Every woman who comes to Beyond Chocolate is an individual and will take the amount of time that is right for her – some lose weight very quickly whilst others take a little longer. By following the Principles, you are likely to lose weight over time and keep it off without worrying! Best of all, you will feel free to eat whatever you want and won’t find yourself thinking about food except when you want to! Who are the Chocolate Fairies? Sophie and Audrey Boss, founders of Beyond Chocolate, are the ‘original’ Chocolate Fairies but in 2007, they began training other women to pass on the message across the world! What’s important to us is that all the women who train to be Chocolate Fairies have experienced the Beyond Chocolate approach for themselves – they really have ‘been there’! The quality of our training is also central and all our Fairies take part in our comprehensive training programme, over several months, before they gain their Fairy status! What kind of women do you get on your courses? There is no stereotype! We have all sorts of women on our one day Experiencess and at our BiteSize sessions, from all corners of the UK and even further afield! We have had barristers, doctors, accountants, teachers, business owners, women whose job is to bring up their children, vets, nurses, office workers, personal trainers, nutritionists, journalists, writers, shop assistants, nannies, entrepreneurs… we could go on and on. We have had women who consider themselves very overweight and women who don’t want to lose weight at all but instead want to regain a balance in their relationship with food and the way they feel about their bodies. We have had women who think they are lost causes (even though we don’t believe that lost causes exist!), women who think that nothing will ever work, women for whom this is a last chance, their one last hope… So whoever you are, you’ll fit in fine! If you are fed up with dieting or controlling what you eat, if you’ve given up hope of ever finding a way to just eat when you’re hungry and get on with your life – Beyond Chocolate IS DEFINITELY for you. I've read the book and really want to come on your events but there's so much to choose from with Beyond Chocolate Experiences, BiteSize sessions and an online course! How can I decide which one is best for me? We're all very different so as part of our policy to make Beyond Chocolate accessible to all, we've created a variety of ways for women to discover a life Beyond Chocolate. The Experience, BiteSize sessions and Beyond Chocolate Online all offer the same advantages - a supported, step by step guide through the Beyond Chocolate principles, as well as practical tools, strategies and motivation for applying them within your own life. Think about how you would feel most comfortable. Do you like face-to-face contact, talking to other women and working in small groups? If so, an Experience or BiteSize sessions sound perfect for you. Of the two, some people find our one-day Experience works best for them whilst others choose our BiteSize sessions to learn over a longer period. Or perhaps you prefer to work at your own pace from your home or office? In which case, Beyond Chocolate Online is ideal. Whichever route you choose, regular emails, phone-calls and letters from previous participants tells us you won't be disappointed! I want to come on a Beyond Chocolate Experience or BiteSize but there isn't a Chocolate Fairy near me! New Fairies are starting soon across the UK (and Australia!) and we're training even more Fairies right now so keep checking the newsletter and website for more information. Or, if there isn't one in your area yet, why not make it happen and become a Fairy yourself!
